Cadet's Pirate Picnic at Badnam Creek
Published 13:12 on 10 Jun 2012
Everyone boarded Retriever and the ribs and made their way up the river to Badnam Creek, as soon as we had moored and got ashore the heavens opened, but this did not put people off, picnic blankets were opened and everyone enjoyed their picnic under the trees. The rain soon cleared up and all the cadets went on to have fun in the river either sinking Oppies or having a committee meeting in the middle of the river! HRSC really showed itself to be a family club with three generations of some families coming along to join the fun.
The highlight of the day was the Pico race between our two new instructor Alex and Rob, one of them even went on to demonstrate a fantastic dry capsize. Alex ended up with a wet phone, the loss of a Pico rudder (later retrieved by David Lippold in the evening, many thanks to him) and much ribbing from the onlookers especially Peggy!!!
