It was a big day out for the 18 boats that competed in the infamous Interstellers at Hamble River Sailing Club. With no racing on the Saturday, the pressure was on to get some points on the board, which was achieved with nine races completed in gusty conditions and a dropping tide.

With no discards and a double points race to finish, consistency was key. Shaun Barber, sporting new colours in ‘Snow Fox’, put together a great series and posted top 5 results in every race to win the championship from Ian Southworth, something that he has been trying to achieve for 3 years! Chris Hamel, sporting an impressive black eye from the previous nights antics, took the final podium spot.

James Ross and Tom McWilliam also had great days to take 4th and 5th place respectively.

Four ladies battled it out for the honour of being top female helm and it was Emma Westmacott that came out on top, posting some great top 5 finishes to take the honour from Sacha Oswald, who was delighted to finish the day with a race win!

Thanks to John Duff and all the safety boat team and helpers and also HRSC and the K&Q, who hosted the prize giving and after party.
